How to know God?

Did you know that God has a plan and a purpose for your life?

God loves you and He wants you to experience the life He created you to have. The life He created us to have is with the purpose of having a personal relationship with Him.

The Bible Says

“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly.” John 10:10

WHY DON’T MOST PEOPLE HAVE THE PEACE AND PURPOSE GOD HAS PLANNED FOR US?

OUR PROBLEM

We have a broken relationship…

We were created by God and to have a relationship with Him, but God did not wire us to automatically love and obey Him. He gave us a will and the freedom to make choices in life.

From the very beginning, we all have chosen to disobey God and run our own life. We have broken God’s commandments and not kept them…even the choice of just a little white lie is Disobedience to God. This is what the Bible calls sin. The result is an empty life separated from God.

The Bible Says

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“The wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23

This means that the punishment for the sinful choices we have
made is eternal separation from God when we die and it will be
spent in a real place called Hell.

So, how do we bridge the gap?

This gap leaves us feeling empty and broken inside. We try to fill that emptiness/brokenness in many ways. We will try to climb the ladder of success, we try to further our education, we turn to drugs, alcohol or some even suicide in efforts to get away from the brokenness. We try to reach God with our own attempts even by doing a lot of good things in life…

The Bible Says

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to His mercy He saved us.” Titus 3:5

No bridge reaches all the
way to God…except one.

The Cross

Jesus provided the only way to God…

The only way that the gap between people and God could be bridged, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world. Jesus died on the cross in our place to satisfy the punishment for our sins. Jesus was then buried in a tomb but 3 full days and nights later He rose from the grave. This opened the way to forgiveness and a new relationship with God.

The Bible Says

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and his life. No one comes
to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,…He was buried,
and…He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

God has provided the only way.
Now the choice is yours.

Our Response…Receive Christ

God has done everything necessary to provide forgiveness and restore the missing relationship in our lives. He offers us the choice to accept it. We accept it by trusting in what Jesus did for us on the cross and receiving Him as our Lord (the One we will follow) and Savior (the only One who can rescue us from sin).

The Bible Says

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your
heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9

Where are you currently?

Will you turn to Jesus Christ and receive Him right now?
Here is how you can receive Christ:

  1. Admit your need. (I am a sinner. I’ve been running my own life.)
  2. Be willing to turn away from your sin.
  3. Trust that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
  4. Invite Jesus Christ to come into your life and lead you in a new relationship with God. (Receive Him as your Lord and Savior)

If you feel God is wanting you to do this in your heart right now…would you be willing to pray this pray?

Dear Lord Jesus,
I know I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn away from running my own life, and now I ask You to run it. I invite You to come into my heart and life. I trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name, amen.
